East of England Show 2005

Well, here we are again - the East of England Show, June 19th 2005. What a scorcher! No worries about

rain this year! The hottest day of the year so far - it was reportedly over 32deg at the showground! Our

Senior Jazz, Senior Band, and our Folk Group played at various locations around the showground.

The day ended (literally, as our bands were the last item on the programme) with a concert by our Senior

Jazz and Senior Band on the huge main stage. We had a massive sound system with microphones all

over the place, so we sounded really impressive to the audience. We took along the cup we had won at

the Northampton Music Festival, and placed it proudly centre stage! Mr T gave us a great introduction,

and later said that it was well justified as we played extremely well! It was certainly hard work though, as it

was even hotter on the stage. The sun was so hot it made our instruments uncomfortable to touch wherever

we played in the showground - which did wonders for tuning - especially the strings of our Folk Group!

We had a great time though, and were very pleased that so many people stayed to the end of the day just

to hear us on the main stage! Here are a few pictures of us in action during  the day.

The "Safe & Sound" arena - complete with giraffes!

Is the fence to keep us in or the audience out?

Is there anybody out there?

there is - oh good!

Mrs Muller directs Senior Band in "Canticle"

who is dwarfed by the massive stage

and now into "Psalm".

Mr T thanks the audience....

and into the last number.....

just before complete collapse at the end!

Here is our Folk Group in the flower tent

It was too hot to play in the sun outside!

It wasn't a lot cooler in the tent!

Guitar players are obviously sun-worshippers!
