Funday 2004 |
|
|
As last years' Funday was such a success, we
decide to do it again this year! We set up all our stalls, then had a
small "formal" concert in the hall, mainly with our junior
groups. We started off though with our "Chinese Music" project
that we had been rehearsing for the last few weeks. This involved us
learning a bit about Chinese instruments - and having a go on some of them
- then playing a string and then a jazz piece in a "Chinese
Style". We are very grateful to Mr. Li Jiang of the China Peoples
Promotions for his work with us. It was a wonderful experience, and
allowed us to play some quite different music. The hall was packed for our
mini concert.
Once the concert was over, we could then concentrate on getting the "Funday" proper under way. Most of the stalls this year were in the tuckshop area, as the weather didn't look too promising. Luckily, it didn't rain though, so the few stalls that were outside didn't get wet! We also sold a lot of our CDs - did you get one? After the day was over, and all the tables and music stands etc were put away, the adding up started. We couldn't believe our eyes, and had to add up all over again several times - we had raised £620 !!!! This was a truly fantastic effort, so a huge thank you to all who helped in any way, and to those who spent so generously at our stalls. The next question is - what are we going to spend it on? Perhaps that question was answered for us when we overheard Mr Turnbull muttering something about "lots of new music for next term"!! Here are some pictures of the day unfolding........ |

And finally - as Senior Jazz perform Mambo Hot, what is Mr T thinking? How about "I wish the guy in the green shirt would either hurry up and grow, or remember to bring his box"? |
